Greek House Resource is a search firm for sorority and fraternity House Corporations on university campuses nationwide, and a Placement Service for House Directors. Our goal is to create the best possible match for both House and Director, through assessing the needs and requirements of both.

For Applicants
(New and Old)

What Does a House Director Do?

A House Director's primary function is to provide a safe, enjoyable, home-like environment for chapter members. Responsibilities may include menu planning and food ordering; budget control; payroll; supervision of household and maintenance staff; working with and reporting to a House Corporation Board; and assistance in planning and hosting social events. The Director should enjoy relating to collegians, alumni, parents, staff and university personnel. Houses are multi-story and require ability to climb stairs frequently.

Who Qualifies?

Backgrounds in property management, food service, counseling or human services are valuable but not required. Some House Corporations require applicants with previous experience; others do not. Requirements vary regarding experience, training, and educational background. Applicants must be willing to relocate and agree to a background check including a criminal history and motor vehicle record report.

Benefits

Benefits of a career as a House Director include salary, living accommodations, meals, and often health insurance. Flexibility of this career allows university holidays, summers and some weekends free, and many houses allow their Directors to live in the house year-round. Salaries and terms of contract vary with employers. In some cases a husband/wife team may be considered if a house needs some combination of House Director / Chef / Maintenance person.

Presentation to a House Corporation

All Greek House Resource applicants are given equal consideration, and based on information provided, matched with the requirements of a particular House. The Applicant's preferences are evaluated, including date available for employment, geographic and campus location(s) and salary requirement. More than one applicant may be presented to a House Corporation for consideration, and an applicant may be presented to more than one House. A formal introduction is prepared and presented to the House Corporation, including an attached resume and written letters of recommendation, if available.

How to Apply

A completed application may be submitted to Greek House Resource, with a typed resume, written letters of recommendation (if available) and a small registration fee. Applications submitted to Greek House Resource remain active for up to one year.
